اصطلاحات زبان انگلیسی فراوانی در غالب کتاب، سایت و … وجود دارد.

بارها تاکید کردم برای یادگیری idiom اولین قدم، پیدا کردن اصطلاحات درست است.

اصطلاحات زبان انگلیسی درست

منظور از درست دقیقاً همان idiom هایی است که انگلیسی زبانان در مکالمات روزمره خود استفاده می کنند.

بارها و بار ها پیش آمده اصطلاحاتی را یادگرفتیم که بعداً فهمی دیم در انگلیسی اصلا کاربرد دیگری دارد و یا حتی Native آن را سالیان سال است که استفاده نمی کنند.

جالب است بدانید که کتاب های معتبر بازار هم همین ویژگی را دارد که عمدتا نوشته شده در سال های بسیار دور هستند و یا به دلیل کلاس کاری از نوشتن اصطلاحات روز مره خود داری می کنند.

اگر موارد بالا هم وجود نداشته باشد به دلیل اینکه کتاب برای زبان آموزان نگاشته شده idiom های ساده تری به ناچار به آموزش می دهند.

مدت زیادی است که نوشته شدن کتاب منحصر به فرد می گذرد این کتاب به جرات می توان گفت از بهترین منابع اصطلاحات زبان انگلیسی است.

بنا به دلایلی متاسفانه هنوز موفق به چاپ کتاب اصطلاحات نشدیم.

یک درس از کتاب را امروز با هم یاد می گیریم.

He said he slept in yesterday when he came to work at 11 and the owner of the company  caught him taking a hit₆ in the can₇. I guess that was the last straw₈

.B: It is a crying shame when you let your addiction get the better of you₁₀

.A: oh well, he didn’t make it₁₁ as a manager, maybe he can make it as a laborer

Glossary 

Lousy: /ˈlaʊ.zi/ very bad

A lousy food

Get canned: lose job, get fired

 .he got canned because he was always late

.slack off: to work less hard or to be less than is usual or necessary

.Iranian employees slack off one month before and after Norouz 

Sleep on the job: Sleeping while on duty

.soldiers must not sleep on job otherwise they will be penalized 

Lame excuses: weak or unsatisfactory

.since I was late again I had to make up a lame excuse

Take a hit: a quick smoke

.I am home alone, come over and take a hit with me

The last straw: the last straw, the final irritation or problem that stretches one’s  endurance or patience beyond the limit

.Losing my job was bad enough, but being evicted was the final straw

Let go: to stop thinking about or being angry about the past or something that happened in the past

.She finds it hard to let go of a grudge

Get the better of you: to control your behavior

Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the door and peeped inside

Make it: to be very successful

.She’s very ambitious but I doubt she’ll ever make it to the top

Can: WC, rest room
